I am the COO / Operations Manager of Sober Saturdayz.
Sober Saturdayz was founded by Kaitie Degen and is a collective of rad individuals embracing a sober or sober curious lifestyle. We sell non-alcoholic spirits from around the world, promote and sell non-alcoholic (genuinely tasty) beer, and work towards harm reduction for all and safe spaces for the sober community. We’re expanding non-alcoholic options to match those of alcoholic ones and bringing sobriety to the forefront as a positive option with a vibrant community behind it. It’s harm reduction on a societal level.
We want drinkers, non-drinkers, and everyone in between to unite in spaces that cater to both and offer real choice in society. We work to break down the stranglehold alcohol has on events and our thinking around entertainment. We’re not happy with just pop and water anymore!
We embrace everyone: you don’t have to be sober to join in on fun, you just need to not drink while you’re with us! Try it out. See how much fun you can have sober. And we embrace everyone as they are: we welcome all self expression with open arms. I am part of and Sober Saturdayz is an ally to the LGBTQ2SIA+ community: we believe in YOU. We respect your pronouns, your expression, and your journey.
Sober Saturdayz hosts an online dance party every Saturday at 12 noon PST called Club Sofa. All the info you need is here: https://linktr.ee/sobersaturdayz

My (brief) story: I am living in recovery from alcoholism. I’ve been sober for just over 18 years. Sobriety is hands-down the most difficult thing I’ve ever done and by far the most rewarding. I thought I was drinking to find myself but alcohol dulled me, buried me in terrible decisions, and fogged over everything I wanted to achieve. Leaving alcohol behind saved me and liberated me into becoming exactly who I wanted to be. I’m not ashamed of having an alcoholic past because recovery is so beautiful and empowering: I want to end the stigma around recovery. You have nothing to be ashamed of. Be proud of what you achieve when you leave addiction behind!
I additionally want to spread the word that not everything in life needs to be soaked in alcohol: real choice aids harm reduction by lessening temptation and giving voice to alternative ways of celebrating. Sober fun is real fun, trust me.
I'm extremely proud to be part of Sober Saturdayz.
