reflecting
shatter-perfect symmetry
one thousand suns
glinting hard in fragments of sky
eyes unblinking
vision burned into retinas
long abandoned by tears
pavement like so much hot rock
head lolls to one side
sky swung out of view
quite suddenly diamond cut trees
curve into the mirrored canvas
no blinds to flutter down
over empty glazed windows
limbs scattered
so many snapped branches
littering the driveway
daylight slides across blue sky
nothing changes except reflection
heart silent in a white rib prison
mouth dry
as ashes
